“It’s great to know that his heart is here at the University of Florida,” said head coach Billy Donovan. “I know he will work hard, and I look forward to helping him continue to grow and develop as a person and as a player.” Tyus originally announced his intentions to transfer on April 17. “The University of Florida is where I want to be,” said Tyus. “I truly feel this is the best place for me to continue to grow and improve and I look forward to this upcoming season.” Tyus was the Gators’ second-leading scorer last season, averaging 12.5 points per game, while leading UF in rebounding at 6.2 boards per game, and in blocked shots with 28. He finished tied for the team lead in double-doubles with five.
