Jodie Meeks Disses Kentucky For NBA

Jodie MeeksKentucky junior Jodie Meeks will submit his name to the National Basketball Association for its June draft, but will not hire an agent, leaving open the possibility to return to Kentucky next season.

Meeks, a 6-4 guard, led the SEC and ranked eighth in the country in scoring, averaging 23.7 ppg. He set the school record for points in a game (54 at Tennessee) and three-pointers in a season, (117) while also shooting an SEC best 90.2 percent from the free throw line. Starting all 36 games this season, Meeks led the SEC in two other offensive categories including three-point field goal percentage (40.6) and three-point field goals per game (3.25).

Alex Tyus Remain At The University of Florida

Alex TyrusSophomore forward Alex Tyus (St. Louis, Mo.) has made the decision to remain with the University of Florida men’s basketball team.

“It’s great to know that his heart is here at the University of Florida,” said head coach Billy Donovan. “I know he will work hard, and I look forward to helping him continue to grow and develop as a person and as a player.”

Eric Bledsoe Balked On The Florida Gators Basketball Program
BledsoeHigh School basketball coach Maurice Ford played it straight Tuesday on why his coveted point guard, Eric Bledsoe, balked on the Florida Gators as quickly as he expressed interest.

"He changed his mind," Ford told the Sentinel when reached by phone. "He's allowed to do that. He just wanted to go to Memphis or Kentucky. He wanted to be closer to home."

The distance from Birmingham to Gainesville didn't seem to bother Bledsoe in mid April, when he considered the Gators his clear-cut favorite in the recruiting process. Bledsoe is holding a press conference tomorrow to reveal the winner of his services, either Memphis or Kentucky.

"Florida is recruiting me hard and I like all the coaches," Bledsoe told the Louisville Courier-Journal back in April. With Nick Calathes having one foot out the door and the Gators in desperate need of point guard insurance, Bledsoe seemed destined for the Gators.
